Something For The Weekend

5 December 2013

The closer we get to Christmas, the more sequins, velvet and sparkles we see in the shops. We are now heading straight for the 'Vamp It Up Zone', where full length dresses and dramatic side splits are the order of the day.

You could opt for a novelty Rudolf jumper for your Christmas party, but quite frankly we'd rather look drop dead gorgeous.

Here are some suitably fab suggestions...

1. Never Again Sweat by Lulu & Co - £100

It's the story of our lives.

Buy it here.

2. Strappy Dress by Zara - £39.99

The official high style fash advice for this season is to layer a slinky dress over a relaxed knit, as per the example above. The bonus? You get to keep warm when waiting for the night bus. This dress has plenty of "so what? I know I'm fabulous" attitude.

Buy it here.

3. Velvet Skater Dress by ASOS - £33.50 (reduced from £45)

The high neck, the mesh detail, the fact we'd have worn it in the 90s with dark lipstick and dodgy hair....we love it.

Buy it here.

4. Bug Necklace by Topshop - £22.50

Maybe we've been watching too much I'm a Celebrity, but this bug necklace is slightly awesome. A necklace like this is also an *amazing* conversation starter when perched at the bar. Talking about a necklace is at least a bit better than the usual "come here often love?".

Buy it here.

5. Maxi Dress by Warehouse - £60

We don't need to explain the jaw dropping gorgeousness of this dress, but trust us that you want to be the lady in red.

Buy it here.

6. Embroidered Dress by H&M - £29.99

What's hotter than a dramatic side split? A centre split.

Buy it here.

7. Midi Dress by TFNC - £42

Jessica Rabbit would definitely approve of this dress. The midi length makes it extra flattering and gives it a vintage twist. Team with the vampiest red lippy you have and killer heels and you're all set.

Buy it here.

8. Strap Clutch by Miss Selfridge - £29

This bag is pretty anyway, but don't underestimate how awesome the strap element is! Just be careful after a few shots when it's tempting to pretend it's a boxing pad. Clutch bags are not toys, people.

Buy it here.

9. Suede Shoes by Mango - £89

Give us a contrast platform and a croc heel - and we'll give you our credit cards.

Buy them here.

10. Tulip Dress by ASOS - £52.50 (reduced from £75)

Don't be alarmed by the fabric, Burberry made it cool to wear Quality Street-esque materials. Tis the season and all that.

Buy it here.
