Standing Ovations

14 November 2013

If you haven’t taken a trip to the theatre recently, you need to. The theatre in London has absolutely exploded over the last year with some great shows coming to the West End.

Whether you get yourself down to a matinée or evening performance, it’s time to head to the West End and sample the fantastic shows on offer. Here’s our pick of the best shows:

The Bodyguard Musical, Adelphi Theatre

Beverly Knight steps into the sparkling shoes of Whitney Houston and sings her heart out in the musical performance of a lifetime. This undeniably romantic tale of a superstar falling in love with her bodyguard will not leave you disappointed and the flawless 5-star reviews can prove it. With a little help from Beverly Knight’s incredible voice, this is one powerful performance that will definitely leave you feeling moved.

The Book of Mormon, Prince of Wales Theatre

Being produced by the creators of ‘South Park’ you would expect nothing less than a lot of laughs. But with this play you get a hell of a lot of laughs. And if they don’t get you at the laughs, then they’ll get you at the draw droopingly shocking lines that push the boundaries of political correctness to say the least. One of the funniest and most current plays in the world; you haven’t lived till you’ve seen it.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Theatre Royal Drury Lane

A theatre ticket to this show is the real golden ticket because watching Charlie and his wonderful world of chocolate take to the stage for a sing-along adaptation of one Roald Dahl’s most magical books is simply outstanding. With a nutty orchestra, fantastic cast, and Oompa Lumpas galore, you are transported to a fantasy world in the heart of London, making this one of the most sought-after tickets in town.

Make sure you get properly fed before the theatre! Here’s our pick of the best pre-theatre drinks & dinner deals:

Grace, Ruby Blue, Tiger Tiger, Sway and Loop can all offer 2 courses from their pre-theatre menu for £9.95 per person when booked through Late Night London.
