February Pop-Ups

3 February 2014

Pop-ups are all the rage these days and it looks like the trend is set to continue in 2014. But how does one keep track of them? Know which ones to visit? Recognise the good from the bad?

Well luckily for you each month I'll handpick the top 5 pop-ups for you to visit, ranging from food and fashion and to weird and wonderful...

Mussel Men, Tues - Sun

428 Kingsland Rd, London E8 4AA

There's two 'R's' in February which means it's one of the best months to eat mussels - if the old wives tale is right. The latest pop-up in Haggerston sees the Mussel Men dishing up moules, frites with fizz. Simple but effective...

United Nudes, until 9th Feb

Selfridges, 400 Oxford Street, London, UK W1A 1AB

Home to forward thinking fashion pop-ups throughout the year, this month, Selfridges plays host to a United Nudes shoe exhibition. The exhibition gives an insight into the design process and features 3D printed shoes as well as the shoes used in the last Hunger Games film. Weird but definitely wonderful!

Miss Cakehead and Kraken Rums V Day Florist, 14th Feb

Unit 1.16, Kingley Court, W1B 5PW

Famous for her crazy cake inventions Miss Cakehead is teaming up with Kraken Rum this Valentine's Day for a one day pop-up florist. But like all of Miss Cakehead's ventures it's a florist with a twist; the roses are as black as the night arranged in gravestone vases. Certainly beats a cuddly toy.

Stylists Rail, 8th Feb

Hoxton Hotel, 81 Great Eastern St, London EC2A 3HU

The Stylist Rail is kicking off 2014 with a huge event which sees bloggers, stylists and various other fashion industry types sell off their designer threads at discount prices. There's music, free Bloom gin cocktails and goody bags but if it's anything like the last one you'll want to get down early.

Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore, Until 2nd March

The Strand, WC2R 1LA

Most people with an interest in fashion will have heard of the late Isabella Blow, credited with discovering Alexander McQueen and Sophie Dahl as well as wearing the craziest collection of Philip Treacy hats (Lady GaGa eat your heart out!). The exhibition is a chance to have a glimpse through the wardrobe of an extraordinary personality who made fashion what it is today.

Will some many varied pop-ups going on this month, it looks like the January detox is over. So get out of hibernation people and get involved!
