The 10 hair looks to copy from LFW

20 February 2014

London Fashion Week has come to a close and now we have to wait for ruddy ages to actually get to wear the garmz we've fallen in love with.

BUT we don't have to wait to copy the hairstyles we've seen on the catwalk and - luckily - you don't need a spare £5k in the bank to copy a designer look.

I've been working backstage with label.m and the TONI&GUY Session Team throughout LFW (by 'working' I mean generally getting in the way, shoving a microphone in people's faces and trying to understand how a blow dry actually works) and whilst we wait for the fashion houses to release their AW14 'collections' to us commoners (you'll notice Lily Allen got to wear Ashish and House of Holland straight off the catwalk) I thought it would be a good time to share which hair looks you can copy NOW.

And, inspired by Ellen's LFW post, I've teamed each hair look with a cocktail so you can match your new 'do' to a delectable drink.

After all, you're not gonna get your hair all fancy just to sit at home and watch Eastenders.

Let's go out - and let's go out with GREAT HAIR.

1. Bouffant Beehive - as seen at Mimi Fasi

The retro beehive will make anyone look fabulous - and what does a fabulous person drink? Why an Absolutely Fabulous from Amber of course. The Ab Fab features Absolut Citron and Cointreau shaken with lime and cranberry juice. Oh do behave!

2. Helmet Hair - as seen at GILES

The hair look at GILES was designed to look as though our heroine (in this case, the gorge Jourdan Dunn) had been riding a motorbike all day with her helmet on and had just removed it to reveal what can only be described as 'helmet hair'. Obvs we wouldn't dream of pairing such a look with anything other than a Cuban Side Car from Foundation - Havana 5 Year tamed with Cointreau and lemon and served over an ice ball with flaming orange zest....yikes!

3. Miss Military - as seen at Belle Sauvage

For a killer look like this you need a killer drink, so how about a Mr Brightside at Opal? Bacardi Gold Rum, apricot brandy, Cointreau, fresh orange, lime and mint. Mmmmmm.

4. Cult Chic - as seen at Tata Naka

The hair at Tata Naka was inspired by North American religious order the Hutterites and whilst we can't imagine alcohol plays a role in their long days working on the land, we know we definitely need a Lynchburg Lemonade at Piccadilly Institute whenever we've been hard at it all day.

5. Vintage Glam - as seen at Hema Kaul

This vintage look is seriously stunning, so if you want some old school red carpet glamour then go for one of the oldest cocktails in the book - the Tom Collins at Jewel Bar. Bombay Sapphire Gin, cane syrup, lemon juice and soda come together to create this old time favourite.

6. Sleek Pony - as seen at Jamie Wei Huang

If you're going to take pride in your pony tail and make it as slick and chic as this catwalk look, then you deserve to drink a proud cocktail too. Enter 'Pride' at Strawberry Moons, this cocktail features Hendricks Gin, lychee, gomme syrup, strawberry and raspberry puree and lemon juice.

7. Vampy Villain - as seen at Ong-Oaj Pairam

For big vampish hair you need a serious cocktail, the 007 Martini at Babble Mayfair is just the ticket.

8. Think Pink - as seen at Xiao Li

No need to reach for the hair dye, label.m's Pink Powder Spray will give you pink hair for an evening without any commitment. You'll need an equally pink drink, so opt for a Rum Runner at Kanaloa - featuring Bacardi Gold, Chambord, banana liqueur, pineapple juice, lime juice and almond and pomegranate syrups.

9. Lived in Grunge - as seen at Yulia Kondranina

Prefer to keep things a bit grungier? Be a badass with dirty roots and a pouty 'IDGAF attitude' as you sip a Wild Meadow at Grace. The Wild Meadow sees nettle cordial blended with Beefeater gin, cloudy apple juice and lemon juice.

10. Cheat - as seen at GILES

Of course you can just do as Cara does and opt for a woolly hat, it's definitely easier and leaves more time for partying. If you're going with the lazy option then match with a Sloth at Bar Soho - the Sloth cocktail features a laid-back combo of Smirnoff Blueberry, limoncello, fresh lemon juice and lemonade. Slovenly lusciousness.

You may find these vids helpful if you're struggling to figure out how to even begin to recreate the hairstyles!
