Something for the weekend

16 January 2014

The sales were great and we we picked up some fab bargains, but we're looking to the future now and luckily all the SS14 pieces are slowly trickling into stores.

Granted, we don't exactly need bikinis and flip flops *just* yet, but it's nice to feel like the comedy Christmas jumpers and burgundy velvet everythings are firmly behind us for 11 months.

Due to the funny nature of how stores receive their seasonal stock there are some fab pieces that are actually in sale but don't scream 'Christmas party leftovers', the Reiss dress that I've pegged at number three below doesn't quite get bargain status (ahem) but with £200 off I guarantee it's worth the investment.

Just remember, January is always better with new clothes ;)

Happy shopping!

1. Striped Floral Dress by River Island - £30

Florals don't have to be just for pretty Spring days, which is good because I can't imagine lazing about in a meadow any time soon. Slightly darker floral prints are perfect for right now.

2. Leather Pumps by & Other Stories

How statement would you like your shoes to be?! These will really stand out on a crowded dance floor and they have the added benefit of a cushioned insole to keep you as comfy as poss.

3. Laser Cut Leather Dress by Reiss - £395 (reduced from £595)

This dress is very VERY special. If you can imagine a sexy Italian Bond Girl wearing it, that's because she would. The laser cut lamb leather and pony hair detailing means it could have come right off the catwalks. With £200 off the RRP, it's hard to resist.

4. Gold Clutch Bag by Mango - £19.99 (reduced from £44.99)

If you've always wanted a Stella McCartney 'Falabella' bag but haven't had the piles of cash lying around that are required to purchase one, this similar style is a nice compromise. I first spied this clutch in Mango in Barcelona and had to have it.

5. Knitted Dress by Topshop - £70

Actually a little jealous of all those who have started a new term at school? Be back to school cool in this little number. Even if you are 33.

6. Tassel Shoes by Mango - £19.99 (reduced from £39.99)

You can do no wrong with tassel 'slipper style' shoes, especially when they're bright gold. Hugh Hefner would approve.

7. Blue Jumpsuit by Miss Selfridge - £55

Ok maybe I've been watching too many 70s/80s flicks but this is a hot jumpsuit for a hot lady.

8. Oversized Shirt Dress by The Whitepepper - £65

Like the effortlessly sexy oversized shirt look but unable to pull it off without looking like you've nicked your dad's shirt? You need a shirt specifically designed to be worn as a dress. This looks AMAZING on. Just add killer heels and a chunky necklace.

Buy it here.

9. Sequin Tee by Glamorous - £32

Okay so I promised we'd seen the back of sequins for a while but hey, I missed them! This is a great top if you actually just want to go out this weekend in jeans and a t-shirt, without looking like you're just in jeans a t-shirt.

Buy it here.

10. Sequinned Trousers by French Connection - £36 (reduced from £120)

Well if I'm going to feature sequins anyway, I may as well go the whole hog and have a blingy pair of sequinned trousers! These are very heavily reduced and can liven up any drab top half. Perfect for going out after work if you want to keep your shirt and blazer but just change into some wowzer trousers.
