Poppy Dinsey Something for the Weekend

Something for the weekend

30 January 2014

Maybe Spring is in the air (doubt it, with all this rain) or maybe I just want to run away to a meadow, but everything I'm drawn to in the shops at the moment is covered in flowers.

Floral is a big trend for SS14, just as it is *every* Spring. You don't have to go all girly girl and flower power though, petals can certainly have pizazz!

There's no point pretending that florals for Spring are particularly ground breaking, but you can put an up to date stamp on florals by opting for modern digital prints and more graphic designs.

Just think 'fashion' and not 'florist' when browsing the rails this weekend.

Happy shopping!

1. Tangled Floral Dress by Ted Baker - £179

Obviously the print in itself is ridiculously amazing but the structure to this dress is what makes it so flattering on. The dramatic front pleat just adds that extra something too.

Buy it here.

2. Jumpsuit by Oh My Love - £55

Be the lilly of the valley in this fabby jumpsuit. Yes, it will be a nuisance when it comes to going to the loo, but it's SO PRETTY!

Buy it here.

3. Shirt Dress by ASOS - £55

The faded design, the antiquey flowers juxtaposed against modern checks, the contrast collar...what's not to love?

Buy it here.

4. Collared Dress by Glamorous - £32

Speaking of contrast collars, this simple dress comes in lots of different floral prints and is SO easy to just throw on for a night out.

Buy it here.

5. Blouse by Sister Jane - £48

Who says a Hawaiian shirt can't be fashionable? There's nothing Alfie Moon about this floral number.

Buy it here.

6. Poppy Placement Dress by Topshop - £90

No I haven't just featured this because it has a Poppy on it! It has earned its place by being awesome.

Buy it here.

7. Tapestry Ponte Dress by Oasis - £55

Flowers don't have to mean pastels, especially when we're still in misery mode weather-wise. This darker take on florals is sophisticated and elegant.

Buy it here.

8. Printed Jeans by Ted Baker - £109

Ted Baker can literally do no wrong when it comes to floral designs this season.

Buy them here.

9. Strapless Dress by Related - £79 (reduced from £195)

Another refined option, this frock is posh enough to wear to a wedding but pretty enough to ensure you'll wear it again and again.

Buy it here.

10. Printed Skirt by Peter Pilotto - £564

The fash crowd have adored Peter's work for a long time now but having just been crowned the winner of the 2014 British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund this week, you can expect to see a lot more of his work. Praise be!

Buy it here.
