Top Christmas Movies We LOVE

9 December 2015

It’s CHRISTMAS!!! Almost. We have a solid two and a half weeks until the big day, which means we have 456 hours to watch all the Christmas movies we possibly can.

Forget about work and get your eyes on the prize, your telly is your new BFF and we’ll be your holiday hosts this season. Except, we know that 456 hours is kind of mental, so we’re rounded up our top Christmas movies for you to watch this season AND our favourite quotes. You’re welcome.

Home Alone

The Chris Columbus epitome of film success, and the wonder days of Macaulay Culkin are brought together in this timeless classic. Growing up watching this film takes you back in the day, before cell phones were a thing and when it seems completely normal for all the adults to sip on cocktails in first class to Paris from Chicago while the kids kick it in economy. Embrace the suspension of disbelief and simply enjoy the fact that Kevin could order a pizza but no one could call the house to see if he was OK.

Unlikely quote we should use more in everyday life from Kevin: “Bless this highly nutritious microwavable macaroni and cheese dinner and the people who sold it on sale. Amen.”#MacAndCheeseLove

The Muppet Christmas Carol

Name one person who doesn’t like the muppets and we’ll give you… well, nothing, but we’ll be completely shocked. Michael Caine as Scrooge and the Muppet pals are along to tell the tale of A Christmas Carol. It’s one of our favourites to watch over and over and the narrator Gonzo is our favourite.

Unlikely quote we should use more in everyday life from Rizzo the Rat: “Mother always taught me: ‘Never eat singing food.’” #NoSingingFood

Love Actually

You know it and you love it. As a matter of fact, we might just watch this year round. Hugh Grant as the Prime Minister (LOL), Liam Neeson and his adorable son winning the hearts of everyone everywhere, and the incredibly talented Emma Thompson. It’s dream casting come true for a series of interlinked events. Guaranteed smiling and appreciation for all your loved ones after viewing.

Blunt truths from Love Actually: “Christmas shopping, never an easy or a pleasant task.” #TrueDat

The Grinch

The live action film with Jim Carrey is a favourite. The one liners, the humour, the costumes and well the incredibly cool town of Whoville. Who didn’t want to live there and celebrate the Whobilation, we are right?!

Your new outgoing voicemail recording from The Grinch himself: “If you utter so much as one syllable, I'LL HUNT YOU DOWN AND GUT YOU LIKE A FISH! If you'd like to fax me, press the star key.”#BFFs

Bad Santa

Lauren Graham and Billy Bob Thorton. It’s really weird and really funny and seems to be our favourite for creating bad holiday related GIFs for social media. After all, we all love somebody who’s on the naughty list, don’t we?

Geography learnings: “’What’s the North Pole like?’… ‘It’s like a suburb.’” #MagicalPlaces

Elf

SANTA. I KNOW HIM. Yep, our pal Buddy the elf makes us really believe in Santa and Christmas cheer all while we wish we were spending the holidays in the beautiful New York City. Sigh.

Unlikely quote that we should use more in everyday life from Buddy the Elf: “Not now, Arctic Puffin!”
