After noticing a rather high number of velvet items on my shopping wishlist this week, I thought I may as well go hell for leather (or, errrr, hell for velvet) and just dedicate this entire shopping edit to all things velvety.
Few things say party season like jewel tones, metallics and sequins, but velvet is up there too when it comes to Christmas party fabrics of choice. I'll bust out the sequins and gold hues over the next few weeks of shopping posts but for now let's focus on the strokable sensation that is VELVET.
1. Dress by Oasis - £50
I have a lot of time for blue velvet (ooooh errrr) and I love everything about this dress: the Victoriana edge, the billowy sleeves and of course the lace bib detail. Very much in my shopping basket.
2. Jumpsuit by Mango - £69.99
Granted you probably want to be fairly tall/leggy to wear this but it's AMAZING. Like, proper red carpet amazing.
3. Playsuit by Topshop - £55
If you want to pull at the Christmas party whilst looking nonchalant and fash-wan as you do so, you need this in your life.
4. Dress by Warehouse - £70
Cute as it is, but really lovely layered over a plain long sleeve top too.
5. Dress by Topshop - £85
Gothic romance at its lacy velvety finest.
6. Dress by Oasis - £65
Butter soft and ludicrously flattering if you like a cap sleeve.
7. Skirt by Topshop - £68
If the texture of velvet is too softly softly for you, go for embossed velvet for a slightly fiercer edge.
8. Top by Zara - £39.99
I wouldn't normally endorse anything which seems vaguely complicated and this top does look like it requires a tad more concentration than a grubby old t-shirt from the floor, but if you can find the right thing to wear underneath it your efforts will be rewarded.
9. Dress by Motel - £52
For the vintage lovers who prefer their 'vintage' threadz to be new. I love the cut of this dress.
10. Dress by Rare - £46
VERY SEXY VELVET ALERT! I have a lot of time for this one, a lot of time.
