Walking in a London Wonderland

20 November 2015

It’s our favourite time of year again. The Christmas lights have been switched on and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in London. We’ve rounded up our top five things we LOVE about the Winter Wonderland that is London

Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park

This is an obvious, but great choice. Our favourite park is home to a carnival of fun times, delicious food, ridiculous rides and all things cheesy. The must do: Hot chocolate with too much whipped cream and if you’re brave, a ride on the Ferris Wheel. Eek!

Shopping on Oxford Street

Hear us out. We know it’s mayhem along Oxford Street at Christmastime. But walking along evokes all the feelings. The must do: A visit to Selfridges Christmas section. Someday we’ll wait in the line to get personalised Nutella… someday.

Ice Skating

There are so many ice skating rinks that pop up in London during the holidays that we’re surprised the Thames hasn’t been frozen over for us to skate on. While we’re still holding out for that dream to come true... we do love Somerset House and the Natural History Museum rinks. Both are surrounded by beautiful old buildings, lights and ah, the perfect atmosphere. The must do: Pretend you’re a professional skater as you zip around the ice.

Alpine Ski Lodges

Well, sort of. We love the fact that ski country comes to London with fun little pop ups around the city. Each year brings a new selection of hotspots. You’re never short of a mug of mulled wine or hot cider.

Afternoon Tea

Admittedly, we love afternoon tea year round, but there’s something special about a Christmas afternoon tea. The usual tea haunts come to life with an extra sparkle of fairy lights and we cannot help but sit in awe of the Christmas trees that have replaced the typical flowers.

There’s just something so magical about the holidays isn’t there?
