The Gable and The Penny Dreadfuls
In the heart of the city, The Gable is welcoming the poetic and mysteriously tragic for Halloween. This smashing party title refers to the penny dreadfuls, a type of 19th-century cheap British fiction publication with lurid and sensational subject matter. (Oh la la!) The name draws upon many characters from 19th-century Irish and British fiction, including Dorian Gray from Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, Mina Harker and Abraham Van Helsing from Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Victor Frankenstein and his monster from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Our Halloween evenings at The Warwick, may just be our most frightening of the lot. According to local folklore… it’s a little bit… okay a lot haunted. Reportedly built next to a plague victim burial site, it’s said to be haunted by childrens' voices (we know, we’re sorry we told you). To keep things a little bit lighter, we’ll be hosting Halloween on Friday and Saturday as a traditional Olde English Halloween, with apple bobbing! You can’t feel scared when bobbing for apples… right?
So get ready to celebrate with us, your choices are endless. Grab your fancy dress costume and let’s party! Book Here.
