Say “May the 4th Be With You” out loud and you’ll hear the pun that Star Wars fans worldwide have turned into a rallying cry to proclaim their love of the saga. It’s the worldwide day to say “May the Force be with you” to all, and celebrate the beloved Star Wars story that binds our galaxy together.
Here at LNL we wanted to celebrate Star Wars Day by ranking the films from worst to best, however as most fans know that is a very tough task… as they are all so good!
The only option left and one of the most coveted debates about Star Wars is the correct order to watch them in… The order they were released — Star Wars (A New Hope) (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983), then The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002), Revenge of the Sith (2005), and the Force Awakens (2016)? Or the order the events happened in the Star Wars universe: Phantom Menace (I), Attack of the Clones (II), Revenge of the Sith (III), New Hope (IV), Empire Strikes Back (V), Return of the Jedi (VI) and the Force Awakens (VII)?
We’re old school here and believe that they should be watched in the way they were released!
George Lucas also agreed with us but what did other celebs say:
Daisy Ridley (I, II, III, IV, V, VI): ‘I would say 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,7 because for a young person it’s easier to understand the chronology.’
John Boyega: ‘I would say whatever you want! Watch 3, 6, 2, 1 — do whatever you want to do so long as you experience it a very unique way and enjoy it.’
Mark Ruffalo (IV, V, VI, I, II, III, VII): ‘From the first one made to the most recent. Straight through. They just build up nicely that way. That’s the way I saw it, and I’m a little bit of a throwback.’
So there you have it various opinions on which order to watch them in… But let’s be honest you’re going to watch them all a gazillion times so just sit down and enjoy the ride!
And also, you know we’re a sucker for a boozy cinema film watching, so it’s best to grab yourself a cocktail at one of our out of this world venues before you watch!
MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU!
